Justice(Ret'd) Dr. Fauz A. Twaib

Dr. Fauz Abdallah Twaib is a seasoned legal expert, academic, and former High Court Judge with over four decades of experience in the legal sector. He currently serves as a Partner and Head of the Litigation and Arbitration Practice at Rex Advocates in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. His practice areas include litigation and arbitration, land law, criminal practice, and tax law. Dr. Fauz is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, a Commissioner for Oaths, Notary Public, and a certified Arbitrator affiliated with several regional and international bodies. He holds a Doctor of Laws from the University of Bayreuth, a Master of Laws from Queen’s University in Canada, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Dar es Salaam. His vast career includes serving as a Judge and Judge in Charge of the High Court of Tanzania, President of both the Tanganyika Law Society and the East African Magistrates and Judges Association, and as Chairman of the Tanzania Tax Revenue Appeals Tribunal. Dr. Fauz is also a respected academic, having taught law at the University of Dar es Salaam and the Law School of Tanzania, and authored several books and legal publications. His contributions extend beyond litigation into policy and legal reform, serving on numerous legal committees and councils, including the SADC Electoral Advisory Council and the Board of Trustees for the Tanzania Law Reports.
