LHRC's book launch on International Democracy Day marks a moment of celebration, reflection, and inspiration. It signifies Tanzania's dedication to upholding the values of democracy and empowering its citizens, especially the youth, to be active participants in the nation's democratic journey.
Dr.Anna Henga LHRC Executive Director said this debate has come at an opportune time as the country undergoes significant changes in Democracy.
“Over the last three decades, we have encountered substantial obstacles in our democratic journey. However, there is now a faint ray of optimism that suggests we can fulfill our collective duty as a nation through a carefully devised plan and the dedication of all stakeholders." - Dr. Henga
Chairman of the Tanzania Centre for Democracy (TCD) during the commemoration said a large percentage of Tanzanians want to live in a true Democracy, with 86% of them desiring Democracy so that citizens can decide their own affairs.
